Gael Cantlin photographer and artist.
Hello there! Thank you for visiting my website. A few things about me:
I love the outdoors, art, animals, beauty, storms, bees, the seasons (but mostly summer!), traveling, speaking different languages (German, Spanish, French), reading a book (not kindle, but a real book), sailing, swimming, surfing, climbing mountains...oh my gosh I could go on and on...But there is one thing that ties all these and many more loves together and that is my love of the picture, the moment captured, through the lens of a camera, that one moment that can be enjoyed over and over.
I studied Fine Art at the University of Freiburg, Freiburg Germany, and then finished my degree at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, with a BFA in Painting and Art History. There was also a stint of a year studying the extremely difficult language of Welsh at the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth (yes try to say that...), and learning to play the Celtic Harp (could play "Three Blind Mice"), and also getting my certification in TESOL in Buenos Aires, Argentina, then teaching English there for a few months. As I said, travel is one of my huge loves, and every year, primarily in the winter, it's time to get on a plane and MOVE...
I come to the art of picture taking then with a firm foothold in the world of contrasts: light and dark, form and line. Human experience: joys, sadness, candid and expected. As a painter I have learned patience in making a picture, in photography, it is instant gratification, and that truly excites me as an artist.
You can expect to see me smiling when you smile on your wedding day, shedding a tear during a special moment, and getting right on that dance floor to get in on the action. I truly enjoy my work, and I feel I am one of the lucky ones to call this "work"....as it brings me so much joy to be doing something I love.
Please feel free to reach out and write to me or call for any inquires. I would love to hear from you and discuss your upcoming event, and how we can work to together to make it a beautiful lasting memory.
I do so look forward to hearing from you!
XO,
Gael
